North Harford Middle School and North Harford High School joined forces last week to host the first annual HAWKAPALOOZA, a freshman orientation event that welcomed 300 incoming ninth graders to their new school community before the fall semester begins.
Held on Tuesday, June 9, the event was designed to ease the transition to high school by connecting eighth graders with the people, programs, and opportunities that will define their high school experience. Students toured the building, met with their counselors and administrators, and heard directly from current upperclassmen during a student panel.
A highlight of the day was an Activities Fair featuring 29 North Harford High School sports, clubs, and organizations, giving incoming freshmen a firsthand look at the many ways they can get involved, compete, and connect throughout their high school years.
"It's all about students helping and teaching other students," said Assistant Principal Kristina Marzullo. "We really want our incoming freshmen to get excited about coming through the doors this fall, so it was important for them to hear from current upperclassmen and understand all of the ways they can be involved, have fun, and participate in high school."
North Harford High School looks forward to welcoming its incoming Class of 2030 this fall. Go Hawks!
